SNO Is There For You

| By Bryce Viola |

The Student Nursing Association (SNO) is a group, in which anyone can join, that promotes a cohesive and supportive environment for Students alike. We participate in community activities that are directed toward improving health care and their related social issues through increasing professional awareness and role development. In the upcoming weeks, SNO will be hosting a few events to help give back to the community.

In November, there will be the NORWESCAP Toy drive starting on the 28th and running until the week before Christmas. The purpose of this event is to have student purchase inexpensive toys for one or more children so that on Christmas morning they too have something to open under the tree. The SNO is also hosting a “Be the Match” event on the 30th from 10 to 2 p.m.; students are given the opportunity to become part of something bigger. Be The Match has created a bone marrow registry which is easy to join with just a swab of your cheek. Through this program many lives can be saved with the odds of finding a match growing larger with every registration. For more information please visit

Finally in December, SNO members will be raising money by hosting a Meditation and Yoga session on the 13th at 2:30 p.m. There will be two blocked off times – one for just meditation and relaxation techniques, and one for Yoga just in time for the ever so stressful finals. Each session is $5 or $8 for both. You can bring your own mat or one can be provided for you (supplies are limited).

In the future, we plan on having more events such as a blood drive and Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation for Childhood Cancer. For any additional information on the Student Nursing Organization and how to join please email Advisor, Grace Page, at  or talk to any of our current members at upcoming Student Government Association (SGA) meetings.
